Hanover-Based Ciena to Acquire Nubis Communications
Hanover, Md. – Looking to address growing AI workloads inside data centers, Hanover-based Ciena, a provider of high-speed networking systems, said on Monday it will pay $270 million in cash to acquire New Jersey-based Nubis Communications. The deal is expected to close by the end of October. Nubis specializes in compact, low-power optical and electrical interconnects tailored to support AI workloads. Ciena said the move will help it better meet customer demand for high-performance connectivity inside the data center, driven by the explosive growth of AI-related traffic.
“With ownership of these key technologies for a wider range of use cases inside the data center, we are expanding our competitive advantage by advancing development of differentiated solutions, reducing development costs, and driving long-term efficiency and profitability,” said David Rothenstein, Ciena’s chief strategy officer.
Reston-Based V2X Acquires QinetiQ's U.S. Intelligence Business
Reston, Va. – Completing a deal first announced last month, Reston-based V2X, a provider of digital and physical infrastructure to government and commercial clients, said on Monday it has paid $24 million to acquire QinetiQ's U.S. Intelligence business, which provides data engineering, mission support and cyber services to the intelligence community. The company said the acquisition adds new capabilities and expands its access to critical national security programs. Approximately 70 employees will join V2X as part of the deal.
"This acquisition enhances our position in the Intelligence Community and strengthens our ability to deliver data-enabled mission solutions across all domains," said Jeremy Wensinger, the president and CEO of V2X.
Bethesda-Based Employee Navigator Acquires Software from Velocity Benefits
Bethesda, Md. – Employee Navigator, a Bethesda-based provider of benefits and HR software, said it has acquired AI plan-building software from Georgia-based partner Velocity Benefits. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company said the software is designed to extract plan configuration details from carrier quotes and insurance documents, then build those plans. As part of Employee Navigator’s acquisition of this technology. The new tool will be available in Employee Navigator’s marketplace starting Oct. 1. Velocity will continue supporting brokers through the end of the year, when Employee Navigator will assume full support and maintenance of the product.
Pikesville-Based Lumelight Acquires BMI Audit Services
Pikesville, Md. – Lumelight, a Pikesville-based provider of technology, analytics and consulting services focused on benefits management, said it has acquired Indiana-based BMI Audit Services, a provider of dependent eligibility verification and claims audit services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Limelight said the move bolsters its ability to help employers and health plans avoid unnecessary costs and reduce risk. BMI also expands Lumelight's offerings to include comprehensive medical and pharmacy claims audits, along with implementation auditing.
