McLean-Based ID.me Raises $340 Million; Valuation Over $2 Billion
McLean, Va. – ID.me, the McLean-based developer of a platform for users to verify their identity online, said on Thursday it has raised $340 million through a combination of its fifth round of funding and a recent credit facility. The latest financing round values the company at over $2 billion. Ribbit Capital led the round, which also included participation from previous backers Ares Credit funds and Moonshots Capital, as well as new investors, including Positive Sum.
"Fraud is evolving at the speed of AI—and so are we," said Blake Hall, the founder and CEO of ID.me. "This funding strengthens our ability to expand secure digital access, protect privacy, and innovate faster to stay ahead of criminal networks."
Reston-Based Tidal Cyber Lands $10 Million for Cybersecurity Platform
Reston, Va. – Tidal Cyber, a Reston-based cybersecurity startup, said on Wednesday it has raised $10 million in its first round of funding, led by Bright Pixel Capital. Previous backer Tidal Cyber investors also took part in the round, which the company will use to accelerate product development and fuel growth. Founded in 2022, Tidal Cyber is the developer of a platform that helps users measure and improve the effectiveness of their security stack against real-world threats and adversary behavior.
"We see strong traction and a need for threat-led defense as more organizations move beyond assumptions, CVE-counting, and checkbox compliance," said CEO Rick Gordon. "Tidal Cyber flips the security model putting real adversary behavior at the center of defense to enable a proactive, continuous, threat-led defense."
DC’s Phasecraft Raises $34 Million for Quantum Algorithms
Washington, DC – Phasecraft, a UK-based quantum algorithms company that opened its quantum R&D offices in DC last year, said it has raised $34 million in its second round of funding, co-led by Playground Global and Novo Holdings’ Quantum Fund. Phasecraft works in partnership with quantum hardware companies such as Google, IBM, Quantinuum and QuEra to develop high-efficiency algorithms to move quantum computing from experimental demonstrations to useful applications. The company said the new funding, which brings its total raised to over $50 million, will allow it to double down on its R&D and expand industrial efforts.
“Our algorithms are delivering meaningful results now, whether it’s simulating the physics of complex materials or optimizing the structure of a large energy network, whilst our partnerships with the world’s top quantum hardware providers increase the impact our algorithms will have for commercial applications,” said co-founder and CEO Ashley Montanaro.
Reston-Based TNS to Acquire Radianz from BT Group
Reston, Va. – Transaction Network Services (TNS), the Reston-based provider of technology infrastructure services to financial, communications and payments clients, said it will acquire Radianz from owner BT Group. Financial terms of the deal, expected to close during the first half of 2026, were not disclosed. Radianz provides financial information exchange networks that connect brokers, institutions, exchanges and clearing and settlement houses to thousands of applications and services they use to run capital markets.
“With a large global network of financial endpoints and our industry-leading low-latency platform, today’s news firmly cements TNS as the premier partner serving financial market participants globally,” said Tom Lazenga, the general manager of TNS Financial Markets.
North Bethesda-Based Chargebee Acquires Inai
North Bethesda, Md. – Chargebee, the North Bethesda-based developer of a billing and monetization platform for recurring revenue businesses, said on Wednesday it has acquired Delaware-based payments intelligence and analytics company Inai. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Chargebee said the move will give customers greater visibility and control over their payments experience.
“Our acquisition of Inai further strengthens our modular, merchant-first payments strategy and enables merchants to orchestrate payments across multiple providers while maintaining control and visibility through a centralized system,” said Krish Subramanian, the co-founder and CEO of Chargebee.
Fairfax-Based GovCIO Completes Deal for Herndon’s SoldierPoint Digital
Fairfax, Va. – GovCIO, a Fairfax-based provider of technology and services to the federal government, said it has completed its acquisition of Herndon-based SoldierPoint Digital Health from owner Iron Bow Technologies. Financial terms of the deal, first announced in July, were not disclosed. SoldierPoint, a spinout of Iron Bow, is exclusively focused on digital health tools supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The company supports key programs at the Veterans Benefits Administration and Office of Information and Technology. "This acquisition represents the addition of important capabilities that enhance our ability to support the mission of our largest client, the Department of Veteran Affairs,” said Joe Cormier, GovCIO’s COO and CFO.
Public Interest Registry Names Finalists for .ORG Impact Awards
Reston, Va. – The Reston-based Public Interest Registry (PIR), a organization that operates the .ORG Internet domain, has announced the 35 finalists for its seventh annual .ORG Impact Awards. The finalists, which range from a nonprofit transforming lives in East Africa, to an organization recycling hair into tools to help the environment, to a group using AI to teach sign language across Latin America, will receive donations of $2,500. All will be invited to DC for the final award ceremony on October 7.
